Lighting

Ever since Summer 2000, when I helped Uncle Joe by learning how to do lights, I've loved lighting. That year, the Jerry Gibson's Summer theatre program, performed Hello Dolly!. With lights by moi. Hanging lights, testing and fixing dimmers, cutting gels, aiming lights, programming the computer, running the show, and everything else, is so much fun! The next year, we did Anything Goes, which was more fun! Then in 2002, we did West Side Story. It was extraordinary! I wonder what we're doing this summer? Aunt Mary wanted to Les Mis , but that's what RCK's doing this year! Which reminds me...

This spring (er, winter)I'm on the RCK lighting crew!!!!! It's so much fun! I'm extremely psyched. We haven't done too much yet, but we're going to do more and more as March draws nearer. As tradition goes, I know nothing about the show. Well, the less the better! I've been told that I was one of the best (i don't remember how to say it) but, one of the best show picker-upers. After, about two rehersals, I've got the show down! Maybe I could make a career out of this....

I'll leave the previous paragraph. Anyway, We're halfway through the show. It's coming along awesomely! (new word!) I'm running the projector this show. It's fun being in the ceiling, especially when a spotlight mysteriously breaks! This is the last weekend, we only have tonight and tomorrow afternoon! I'm gunna be really sad when the show ends. I mean, there'll be nothing to look forward to. unless....... THE PRISM CONCERT! Maybe I could help with lighting for that! We'll see. Let's just get this show over with first! Eeeep! My first HS cast party is tonight! I'm super excited! (haha)

Once again leaving the previous paragraph. So the show is long over, but lighting isn't! We do stuff all year. Not much going on now, but that's okay. I'm looking forward to this summer. Still don't know what show we're doing, but who cares! It'll be fun no matter what. ("No matter what" ~Tootle) That's all for now folks!

Leaving all previous paragraphs. Guess what! This summer's show is going to be Godspell. I think I saw it once a long time ago. Anyway, this year I'm working about three weeks in Florham Park, on the show and will be doing an awesome lighting plot. Oh, and we're GETTING MORE DIMMERS!!! Isn't that awesome!! Well, it is. With all the lighting and tennis this summer (and next school year, and the next summer, etc.) this is a packed summer! Please school, end!

SURPRISE! I'm going to... leave the previous paragraphs! Wow! Only SIX days left of school!! Anyhoo, Prism was fun! Me, Ryan, Petey, and Paul hung lights, and then on Prism night Me, Ryan, and Paul ran the show! (Well, technically I just sat there since there wasn't much to do, but moral support is good!) It was lots of fun. This one light "burnt out," so Paul tried to see what was wrong. No luck. Later I went to see what was wrong. Guess who fixed it. ME! The plug was falling out of the edison so I had to hold it in the entire song. I got some gaffer tape after the concert, and secured it. GO ME! :) That was about all the interesting stuff that happened. Byebye for now!

Guess what? I'm leaving the other paragraphs!! The Masque and Mime banquet was lots of fun! They had OLIVE GARDEN SALAD!!!!!!!!!! That's all I ate for dinner (heehee). Since this has nothing to do with lighting really, I'll stop there. I watched the Tonys last night. It was cool, but of course I was only waiting for best lighting design, which by the way was Nigel Levings, for "La Boheme." I've decided I have to see it for the lighting at least. (It also won for best scenic design.) In other news, I'm going to work on the Night of Original Scenes at RCK. Obviously for lighting. Last Monday, I got told last minute (after 8th) to stay after to set up for the scenes, but considering I had tennis and got told 10 minutes before, I couldn't. So, I'll see what to do Wednesday. And if your interested in going, it's

Tha-tha-that's all folks!

YAY! Next week I get to watch the show!!! I hafta see who, what, and where to light. I'm not sure when I'll start the plot, but I might next week. We'll see. I won't be able to update anything while I'm gone, but I might update Thursday (orthodontist appt., so I'm home) and definitely when the show's over. Hopefully I'll update soon! BUH BYE!! (P.S. I'm leaving the other paragraphs).

YAY!!!! The play was sooooo good! I can't believe it's over. :.( It was so much fun though. Since I was there for three weeks, I made lots of friends. My good friends are Brian, Becky, Nicki, Kerri, and Chrissy. It's really sad that I won't see them again until next year, but I have the first three's screen names, so it's all good :-D. Well, as ususal, the best part of the show is lighting :). I designed the entire show, (i have yet to do a plot, hehe) and ran and programmed it, er... the other way around. It's so cool, 'cuz the show is lighting. No sets, (well no moving sets) so I just make the show!! (go me! :p) Idk what else to say so that's all for now! Tata! (heehee).

So, yesterday was the first Masque and Mime meeting of the year. It was all basic stuff they went over. This year's show is You Can't Take It With You. It's an old histerical comedy, or so I'm told.:-P OOOOO guess what!!! After the meeting I went up to Mr. Steinmeyer and got a big hug! Then I asked if I had to write a letter of intent if I want to be assistant crew chief. Then he called Ryan over and asked if I had to write a letter of intent. He said "I don't know it depends on how many people..." Then Mr. S said "Just answer, does she need to write a letter of intent?" "No. Do I have to write one to be crew chief?" "Yeah, write it right now" Hands Ryan a bus pass "Write 'I want to be crew chief, signed Ryan.'" Then he told me to do the same thing. So, now I'm assistant crew chief!!! YAY!! I'm so happy!! Now all I hafta do is show them my Godspell plot.:)

Hey all!! As you know this year's fall show is You Can't Take It With You. Well, anyway, yesterday was the Production Meeting. Unfortunately I couldn't go, but I didn't miss too much. Ryan and I just hafta make up a schedule. This Monday, is the meeting of all the crews. Ooooo, if there are new people I'll seem all important and stuff!!! :-P It's at 2PM, so show up so you can be on a crew! See you then!

Wow! What an awesome show. Well, any show I work on is awesome... but that goes without saying :-P. Really though, It was a lot of fun finally really working on a show in M&M. Ryan (:)) and I worked on the plot, and we hung lights, ordered and cut gels, and all that fun stuff! :-P But the best part is, that I got to run the show!!! I didn't realize how much I'd missed running a show. It's a lot of fun working with the new board...it's pretty :).... It can also do effects, which are lots of fun :-D. I can't wait until the spring show!!!

I was bored and listening to the music of one of the show's I've done. And I was thinking...this is my favourite of the shows I've done. Then I thought...I wonder if anyone ever saw this page and wanted to know which show is my favourite so far. So I've decided to put it. My favorite show is definitely West Side Story. It's stuck in my head the most too :-p. And I did the show over a year ago. While on the subject of favourites, guess what my favourite light is!! Fresnsels, of course! So yeah...that's all for now...have a nice day! :)

Haven't updated my site in a while.... Just thought I'd tell you that it's that time again!!! Yes it's time for the spring production. We are doing "Into The Woods" which is gunna be awesome. We hafta get the plot done soon :-p. This is gunna be a crazy show. But, the crazier the better :-D. I'm really excited being assistant/co crew chief again. I love doing lighting. It's so much fun. I really wanna find a career in lighting. As of now I wanna go to SUNY Purchase, which is a good school for theatre. They have 5 theatres. FIVE. So I wanna major in technical theatre or lighting...whichever I can...and minor in music. They have this awesome music conservatory with Baroque instruments and stuff :-D. But anyway...this section is about lighting. In the upcoming show, there are gunna be so many rentals and, well, lights in general :-p. I just can't express how psyched I am. LIGHTING RULES!! Haha. Well it does. Oooooooh. And guess what I got for Christmas!! A 3" Fresnel!!! Isn't Ryan great? :-D Well that's all to write for now...I'll keep you updated on the show as it progresses. Make sure you go!!! It's March 12, 13, 19, and 20 @ 8 PM, 21 @ 2 PM. Be there or be.....not there. :-p

Hey Everyone! YAY! Guess where I'm going tomorrow! Yup, you guessed it. FLORHAM PARK! :-D I'm so excited and have been counting down the days since I was in Germany. And you know what's really cool? Mr. Steinmeyer is coming!! :-D. So tomorrow is my first rehearsal for Pippin. This is my favorite time of year. I love doing my shows in Florham Park, even more than at Ketcham. But as soon as this show is over I've got to get into Man-Of-Lamancha-gear :-p. This is so cool. Show after show. This is what my life is gunna be like more or less and I love it. I can't wait to see everybody again. Brian, the twins and everyone else. I love Ridgedale! YAY JERRY GIBSON! Okay. All for now, talk to you later :).

:-D So here I am in Florham Park once again. It's so great. I had no idea how much I missed it. As soon as i stepped foot into the theatre I started giggling. And then when everyone started showing up! :-O I see a twin and it's all smiles. Then I see Brian come in. Huge smile, wave and he comes over and I get an even bigger hug. And then another hug. :) I missed everyone so much! Brian's hair got longer. But enough about the people I missed and love. Onto the lights! So far we've decided on 13 areas. 8 from the house bar, four from the 1st Electric, and one large one from the 2nd to hit a raised area in the back. As of now we have the house bar and 1st electric hung and patched. Yay! We've got 5hrs tomorrow to work as well and then another rehearsal Monday. I swear, JGT is the only place I really like the actors ;-P. Well all for now. Buh bye!

AAAAAHHHHHH! It's opening night, and here I am in New York! Lol. I'm leaving in two hours so no worries :). The show starts at 8, but I hafta get there at six. There are a lot of things that I need to fix and I would like more time, but oh well, an hour and a half will have to do! :-0 I'm really excited about it. But I'm gunna be really stressed tonight. I need a hug from my favorite New Jersian ;-). Please come to the show!! It's gunna be really really cool!

PIPPIN presented by the Jerry Gibson Memorial Youth Summer Theater! Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 8pm!

(That's the 26th, 27th, 28th, 30th, and 31st) Be there or be...not there! But you'll regret it if you don't! Even Mr. Steinmeyer is coming!!! :-D YAY! TTFN!

Wow. Can you say amazing? Well I certainly can, especially referring to Pippin. The show was so great. And even non-show stuff was just as fun. We worked so hard on everything and it just came together. And then the week of the show...that was the absolute best. First off the show, and then afterwards staying out till all hours of the night. On Monday, opening night, we went to Friday's and omg it was fun. There were ten of us there and between the singing and strange orders we had a blast. I also stole Brian's phone and wallet. LOL!!! It was so funny...Pete...he ordered this random drink. It was like a vanilla shake with ice cream, bananas, and would've had strawberries if they hadn't been out of them. What a great night. And then, Tuesday we went bowling. Fun!! Everyone went at first and then it was just me, Brian, Pete, and Matt. Then Pete left, and later Matt left. It was cool hanging out with Brian that whole time. On Wednesday, we went to Brian's cast party. Lots of fun. And the next day, our day off, we hung at Brian's and watched movies, sang, played pool, got Starbucks, flirted, and just an all around good time. Friday we went to Bennigan's. That was really fun. After we headed to the cast part at Mike's but left pretty much right away. We drove around a little and stopped at Dunkin Donuts and then went home. Then the last night, we got quite lost trying to find Nicole's house. We were stuck on Bee Meadow for quite a while :). Cuz we had directions but Matt left four of them downstairs and Brian dropped his in the parking lot. So eventually we got smart enough to call someone. We then found our way to Nicole's. She has a nice house, lol. Well, outside is nice. Crazy expensive landscaping. It was really hard to leave cuz it was the last time I got to see everybody, but Dad was getting impatient. What an awesome couple of weeks. I miss New Jersey like crazy now, and I hope the people who said they'd visit actually do. It would mean so much to me. Alright, all for now. Be sure to check out the Pippin pictures!! (I get my script for Man of Lamancha Wednesday, lol.) Bye now!

Ahhh the Man of La Mancha update...:-p. So...so far so good. I got my script and read through it. I wrote a bunch of cues in, so that's cool. Unfortunately I was missing pages 4 and 5, so I just got those the other day. Ironically those were important pages...explained a lot, lol. Oh, and if you were wondering, here's the cast list. Some people I'm not sure of, but others I can already imagine doing the parts. As far as lighting goes...I'M CREW CHIEF! How cool is that? It's really exciting, but really nerve racking. I totally lost what I was gunna write about...so I'll write later.

Okay, so I never wrote about La Mancha while we were doing it. And now it's long done. But I have just got to say, that it was the best show of my life. There's no saying how long that'll stand, but for now, it was the best. Yes, WSS is still my favorite show, but the whole experience and performance, and cues, and people...;-)...well it was just incredible. It is such an incredible show, and by far my favorite one to do so far. But now, I'm writing all of this so late that it's already time for Crazy For You auditions!!! Today is the last day 'till call backs. It's gunna be so much fun, I can seriously not wait. I may just have to go to rehearsals even when they'll be totally useless!! Lol. Well, I gotta go think of something fun to do! BYE!

WOW! It's been a while. Last time I updated was 12/17/04!! And it is now...8/2/06!!! Wow, lol. So let's see. You have missed...after Crazy For You which was amazing. Michael and Keira and those singing cowboys ;-) haha...well they were nothing short of amazing. And then there was Oklahoma! at JGT. You don't need to know about that show. Haha, well let's just say it was...um...interesting. A lot went wrong, from having them send no blue gels to whatever else. And then back to Ketcham, there was Sarah, Plain and Tall which was a cute show. "I'm a goin' to the shuckin' of the corn! I'm a goin' to the shuckin' of the corn! A shuckin' of the corn an' a blowin' of the horn! I'm a goin' to the shucking of the corn! HEY!" Lol. Then there was ummm....Seussical: The Musical! What a fun show. I hated it at one point, but it was the most fun ever. Designing it, then cuing it, then fixing catastrophies. And Amy was amazing...this was the most complicated show I've ever done...so many cues...even more spotlight cues...it was ridiculous. And my spotlights <3<3. It was so hard and they were fantastic. And then the moving light...Mr. Holod and Marcel...they were such a great help. Check out a full report of the show here! It's an e-mail I sent to Cindy to tell her about it...with some great pictures too! THEN back to JGT we had Oliver! That is like one of my favorite shows. It was...ehh alright. It was really cute. But I need to warm up to the music again. Lol. So it wasn't THAT good. But at least I went out almost every night with my friends. Robbie (or is it Robby...both look weird now) is amazing. I've known him for like...six years. And then Dom was there (not offically involved in the show) and Megan (she's going to Dusquene!!! We're going to be in Pittsburgh together!!) and Kerri, and some new people too! I basically hung out with the crew this show. It was a lot of fun. And OH. I never wrote about COLLEGE. I am going to Carnegie Mellon University!!!!! I am so excited. It is the best school in the country for technical theatre and I'm going for lighting design! I am so excited. Haha, I just said that. But I really am. CMU is the most amazing place in the entire world, so I can't wait. ALSO...right after I got in I went to go see Wicked to celebrate! Front Mezzanine...row A!!! And THEN I met the electrition (who runs the show) and he gave us a tour of EVERYTHING and he gave me his e-mail. Pat Gilmore is so cool, lol. Anyway then in May I went to a Broadway Lighting Master Class. It was very cool. I met Jules Fischer, Peggy Eisenhauer, and CHRISTOPHER AKERLIND. He is amazing. We got to see Light in the Piazza (again for me!) and then talk with him after and look at the stage and I had my flashlight and was looking around and I totally felt like Nancy Drew cuz I had a skirt and heels on and the old looking flashlight (it's just metal, lol) it was so cool. Umm...I think that's it for now. Byee!!
