Tin Whistles

CONGRATULATIONS! You found the "secret" tin whistle page!! You just knew there had to be one...especially with the tin whistle music in the background on my Flute and Piccolo page! Ok, so of course the Tin Whistle deserves its own page. If you hadn't guessed, I own a Generation, nickel-plated, D tin whistle. (I also own every other key in brass and nickel, but that's not the point.) It is my mom's old tin whistle, and the best one I own. I play it approximately every five minutes and tend to annoy everyone around me. It's not that it's bad, it's just constant.

The first real song that I ever learned on the tin whistle, was "Here We Come A-Wassailing" (the Wassail Song). It's a perky, great tune to play on the tin whistle. Just add a few trills here and a few mordants there and it's perfect! The next song that I can think of, is the main tin whistle tune from The Lord Of The Rings. I absolutely LOVE it. It's so great. Howard Shore is my hero. (And James Gallway is my idol :D.) Really though...I learned how to play it and perfected it over time. It's great to just pick up and play anytime. Ooo...I have a great story about that. Picture this: Full movie theater...December, 17 2003...opening night of Return of the King. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? YES! I brought my tin whistle and played LOTR music! It was the most awesome thing ever! I figured, since its opening night, all of the freaks will be there and they won't think I'm wierd. Haha. I love telling people that story. I'm so proud :).

There isn't much else that I can think to tell about the tin whistle. But one day, I hope to own the wooden tin whistle (yeah that makes no sense) just like James Gallway's.

Once more, congratulations for stumbling upon this page...you're just too smart for me ;-). <bgsound src="telemanntinwhistle.mp3" loop=infinite>
